Hey there, I'm Stephanie Wilson with the Stephanie Wilson team at Keller Williams Realty, and I'm here today to talk to you about why you should not wait to buy a home due to high interest rates.
A study I just read about a few weeks ago said that people are holding off, and we know for a fact it's happening because our sales are down nationwide. People are holding off because the rates are so high, and next year sometime they're predicting the rates to drop. The problem is if or when the rates go down, all the buyers that are waiting to buy are going to flood the market again, which is going to cause and increase in prices. So although the rates may be high, the prices are going to go up drastically if the rates go down. So they're encouraging us to educate our people that you need to buy now and refinance later.
We have so many builders building new construction homes that are offering 4.99, 5.75, 5.86 percent interest rates. Many of them are offering to pay closing costs up to $10,000. So there are options out there. We also have some people out here with some assumable loans where the buyer can assume the seller's mortgage at the seller's lower interest rate.
So don't let the interest rate hold you back from purchasing a home, because next year that home is going to cost you a lot more money, and you're going to be competing again. If you go with new construction, you're not competing, you're not going to pay over the price, and sometimes you actually can pay below the price because they are negotiating again.
